Stanier pacific No.46254 crests the summit of Beattock bank with a Glasgow bound express in the early 1960’s.
The highest point on the West Coast Main Line in Scotland, it is 52 miles south of Glasgow Central station and 349 miles north of London Euston. The height at the summit is 1,033 feet above sea level.
