A fine summer day during 1958 bears witness to the up ‘Cornish Riviera’ headed by a ‘Castle’ class 4-6-0 No.5028 ‘Llantilio Castle’ running off Brunels’ magnificent ‘Royal Albert Bridge’ spanning the river Tamar from Cornwall into Devon. No.5028, allocated to Plymouth Laira engine shed, will come off the train at Plymouth North Road station to be replaced, usually, by a ‘King’ class locomotive.
