Description
The need to replace elderly locomotives then in use on branchlines resulted in a series of 2MT tender and tank locomotives. Ivatt’s design would become a mainstay of the British Railways fleet.
No. 46455 was built in 1950 would serve most of its life in the north of England and Scotland. The locomotive is seen on one of its regular turns at Keswick with an evening train to Cockermouth.
