Description

The Last of the Line – The GWR Hawksworth County class.

Great Western Railway County, now under BR ownership and in British Railways livery outside Ranelagh Bridge depot, Paddington in the mid 1950s.

Built between 1945 and 1947, and designed by F.W. Hawksworth, the thirty County class locomotives were very much in the vain of Churchward and Collett and were full of the charm and style associated with these two giants of locomotive design.
