LNER Gresley P2 class 2002 ‘Earl Marischal’ is seen during 1935. The class had been designed for express passenger traffic on the Edinburgh to Aberdeen mainline, which is noted for its steep gradients and tight curves. Two locomotives were initially built, differing in their valve gear.
