Description
LNER A1 Class No 2547 Doncaster at Kings Cross in 1925. Designed by Nigel Gresley, and built at Doncaster Works the previous year. Like many other A1’s named after racehorses, “Doncaster” was named after the 1873 Derby winner and not Doncaster works.
Doncaster is depicted sitting in the head shunt at Kings Cross awaiting for the signal to move forward before backing down onto its next train.
