Robert Nixon

Snowhill Railway Station in Birmingham 1961

Robert hails from Denby Dale in West Yorkshire.
"I remember, as a boy growing up in Maryport (Cumbria), spending summer Saturdays visiting our local engine shed and pestering locomotive crews for a footplate ride... something that would never be tolerated these days. My request was usually met with a friendly... "Hop up quick - there's no sign of the gaffer"...".
At school, Robert excelled at art and gained a degree in Art History, his love of art and of the steam railway naturally soon combined and you can now find Robert Nixon artwork in print on jigsaws, calendars and greeting cards. You may have already seen Robert's paintings - he was a finalist in the Daily Mail's: 'Not The Turner Prize' competition - Something we're sure Turner would have approved of!
