Mike Flanders GRA

Michael was born in Bristol, England in 1963. Using his natural artist talent he was employed by his father from school as a technical airbrush artist. He progressed on to work freelance in various advertising agencies as a finished artist and graphic designer.
Following this Michael has had several career changes before finally taking his self-taught talent seriously and lifting the brushes on a more regular basis early in the 21st century. As anyone knows being an artist doesn't always pay the bills and although his working life is following a different path at present, it is in another creative way, he is self-employed making wood and stone floors look stunning. As and when the situation allows Michael is extremely keen to pursue his painting full-time in the future and this is by far his ultimate ambition.
Michael uses various mediums, his favourite being oil paints. These he uses to complete paintings in a verity of subjects from 'plein-air' city and landscapes to the more detailed motor and railway art. His style is slightly impressionistic, being loose flowing. This he feels gives vitality and movement to his paintings. Michael became an Associate Member of the Guild of Rail Artists in 2009. Being promoted to a full GRA in 2013.
He has exhibited in London, Bristol and Bath and of course will continue to display work at the various Guild exhibitions. Also undertaking his commission work.
