London, North Western Railway 'Precedent' class 2-4-0 No.1682 'Novelty' stands proudly at Birmingham New Street C1920. One of a class of 166 engines introduced from 1897 until 1901 'Novelty' survived into LMS days. No. 790 'Hardwicke' of the same class is preserved in the National Collection at the NRM.
