A very personal painting from 1990. Ostensibly about leaving Accrington at the age of 18 to explore pastures new at university, it's title almost proved to be prophetic, as whilst I was painting it, unknown to me, I was developing a cancer that became potentially fatal. Fortunately I survived but after a couple of years' recovery, my painting style changed.
