D1048 'Western Lady' bathes steam & diesel smoke and sunlight as she waits to leave the confines of Old Oak Common, engine shed during 1963. 'Western Lady' was completed at Crewe works in December 1962 and withdrawn from service in February 1977. It is now one of six Western diesels in preservation.
