Elford
Norman
Elford was born in Portsmouth but it was not until he spent
the war years with an Aunt in Reading that his real interest
in railways developed.
In 1978, after a long career in teaching art, Norman began
to paint seriously. He has had several one man exhibitions
and has works published as greetings cards and calenders.
He has also designed decorative plates for both Spode and
Royal Doulton.
He works mainly to commissions, his customers favouring
his sharp and detailed use of acrylics but he also works
in oil and alkyd with the same attention to detail.
Although he retains an affection for steam he confesses
to a growing interest in the current railway scene with
its exciting new shapes and colours and to the human interest
element present at busy stations.
We sadly report Norman passed away March 2007. |
